SSC CPO SI Recruitment

  SSC (Staff Selection Commission) has brought the SSC CPO SI Notification 2017 for recruitment of SI in Delhi Police and CAPFs and ASI in CISF.  

Note:

•CAPF includes: BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP and SSB.  There are no vacancies this year in ITBP.

•This exam is commonly referred to as SSC CISF / SSC SI / SSC Delhi Police SI.

There are a total of 2221 vacancies across all positions under this SSC CPO SI recruitment drive.  Male and female candidates can apply for the same till 5:00 pm on 16th May 2017 from the SSC website and the computer based (online) exams are due to start from 01st July 2017 for Paper I.

SSC SI Recruitment 2017 (SI, ASI)-Job profile,  CPO salary and CPO vacancies

SSC CPO Salary for Sub – Inspector

The pay scale for SI (Sub Inspector) in any of the Police forces is Rs. 35,400 – Rs. 1,12,400/- per month.  While Sub Inspector posts in the CAPFs are classified in Group B, those for Delhi Police are classfied in Group C.  However, there is not much difference in promotions or salary growths based on the groups.

The ASI pay scale is Rs. 29,200 – Rs. 92,300 per month.  It is classified as a Group ‘C’ (non-gazetted post).  This implies that the post of ASI does not hold any supervisory role, and works under a supervisor, in this case, the Sub Inspector.

SSC SI Exam date and other important dates

The online application process to apply for SI or ASI positions in Delhi Police, CISF and CAPF was started on the 22nd April 2017 and the SSC CPO exam date of Paper II (the last test before final results) is 8th October 2017.  There are various dates between this period that are important for you to remember.  Any default on these dates may lead to cancellation or inability to apply or sit for the examination.  These are listed as below:

SSC CPO Eligibility Criteria

It is very important to confirm your eligibility to apply for the SSC CPO SI, ASI recruitment for Delhi Police, CISF, CAPF in 2017 before you start preparing or applying for the examination.  You will need to provide documents to prove each of your eligibility requirements either at the time of PET (Physical Endurance Test) or at the time of joining.  So ensure that you meet each of the below mentioned ssc cpo eligibility criteria.  Your eligibility to apply for the SSC CPO recruitment of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police, CAPFs and Assistant Sub Inspectors in CISF examination 2017 depends upon fulfilling the below mentioned criteria:

SSC CPO Eligibility Criteria for Nationality 

To fulfill the Nationality criteria, you must fall into any one of the below mentioned groups:

•Citizen of India, or

•Subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or

•Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st Jan 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

•a person of Indian origin who migraged from Pakistan/ Burma/ Sri Lanka/ Kenya/ Uganda/ the United Republic of Tanzania/ Zambia/ Malawi/ Zaire/ Ethiopia/ Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

You will need to submit the required document as proof of your Nationality before the offer of appointment.

 

Educational Qualification required to be eligible for SSC CPO SI Exam

You need to have completed your Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized University.  This includes distance/ regular programs in degree/ diploma / certificate courses.  However, you need to have completed your qualification as on 1st January 2017.  Thus, if you are still pursuing any part of your graduation on 2nd January 2017, you are not eligible to apply for the 2017 recruitment of SI/ ASI in any police force under this exam.   [Go to index]

 

Driving License requirements for SSC CPO SI recruitment under this examination

All male candidates can apply for the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police only if they possess a valid driving license for motor cycle and car as on their date of Physical Endurance Test.  In case, you can not get a driving license by the date of your Physical Endurance Test, you can only apply to the post of SI in CAPFs and ASI in CISF.

 

SSC CPO Eligibility criteria for Tattoos for appointment 

Tattoos are checked for during the Medical Examination.  This examination is held for all candidates who clear the Physical Endurance Test.  You can not apply for the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police if you have any tattoos on any part of your body.  For other positions of SI in CAPFs or ASI in CISF, you have the flexibility of keeping a tattoo.  However, it should be within below defined limits:

•Content: Only religious symbols or figures or names are permitted.

•Location:  Only on the non – saluting limb (left forearm) is permitted.

Required levels of physical endurance and medical fitness for SSC CPO SI recruitment 2017

Physical Endurance and Medical Fitness are tested twice –

•first, for all candidates who clear Paper I and

•second, during the training period after appointment.

On both occassions, every qualified candidate is compulsarily required to undergo the respective tests.  The selection and conformation to the services is dependent upon clearing the same.

PET/ PST and Medical fitness tests after clearing Paper I of the SSC CPO SI recruitment 2017

All candidates who clear Paper I need to under go the PET/ Medical examination.  This exam does not bear any marks, and is only of qualifying in nature.  However, only those candidates who qualify this PET/ Medical fitness test are allowed to sit for Paper II.  There are three portions to this test:

The Physical Endurance Test examines your stamina and strength.  Ex-servicemen candidates are exempted from this test.  The events and qualification criteria for the same are as below:

Medical Fitness Standard of SSC SI recruitment 2017

This test is conducted only for candidates who clear the PET.  The medical fitness of candidates at this point is adjudged on the following basis:

•Eye-sight: 6/6 and 6/9, high color vision without wearing of glasses.

•Physical Health: NOT have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squit in the eyes.  You should not have any other physical defect that may hamper in performance of duties.

•Mental health: Have good mental health.

•Pregnancy: Female candidates should not be pregnant at the time of PET.

Candidates declared unfit in the Medical Examination may appeal before Review Medical Board withing 15 days.  However, the decision of the Review Board can not be challenged.

 

SSC CPO Physical tests during training period

All candidates selected through the SSC CPO SI recruitment 2017 will be recruited on probation for two years.  During this period they will need to pass seven obstacle events.  Failure to pass these can lead to termination from the service.  These obstacle events are as below:

•Jumping over the Vertical Board,

•Holding the rope on jumping from the Board,

•Tarzan Swing

•Jumping on the Horizontal Board

•Parallel Rope

•Monkey Crawl

•Vertical Rope 

Thus, if you feel that you may not be able to complete these obstacles, then you should not be applying for these posts under the SSC SI recruitment drive.

The selection process of SSC CPO SI recruitment for SI in CAPF, Delhi Police and ASI CISF is made up of three levels:

SSC CPO SI Paper 1 

Paper 1 of SSC CPO Recruitment for SI and ASI is a computer based (online) examination consisting of four parts or subjects.  This is a mandatory examination that needs to be taken by all candidates.  Its marks are counted in making the final results and rankings.  It holds a high importance as this exam has the highest competition and also, in case of a tie in total marks, the candidate with higher marks in Paper 1 is provided a higher rank.  Only the top candidates are invited for the next round or the PET.  The exam pattern of Paper I of SSC CPO SI recruitment is as below:

Physical Standards Test, Physical Endurance Test and Medical Examination for SSC CPO Recruitment of SI & ASI

This is a qualifying examination of Physical Endurance, and Medical fitness.  It is not provided any marks.  However, candidates who fail this test are disqualified and not invited for the next round of Paper 2.  Thus, this is more of an eligibility criteria, and you should check if you can pass this before applying and studying to clear this SSC CPO Exam for SI & ASI. 

 

SSC CPO Paper 2 Exam for SI and ASI

SSC CPO Paper 2 Exam of SSC CPO Recruitment for SI and ASI is also a computer based (online) examination.  The exam only tests the knowledge and comprehension in English Language.  Only candidates who clear the PET and Medical fitness are invited to take this examination.  This is the final round of the selection process for the SSC CPO SI recruitment.  Its marks are added to the marks of Paper 1.  The final list is made on the basis on descending total marks obtained.  The candidate with the highest total marks is provided the post of first preference.  The SSC CPO Paper 2 exam pattern is as below:

SSC CPO Apply Online

Application for sitting the SSC CPO SI Recruitment 2017 for Sub-Inspector and Assistant Sub Inspector can only be made online by following the below mentioned steps.   The online registration can be done till 5:00 pm on 16th May 2017.  Before you start with the registration process, please keep the following documents/ information in hand:

•Matriculation Certificate (Class 10 board certificate):  This is required to fill the details during registration.  The details required from there include your name, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name and exam roll number.

•Aadhaar Card: to fill your Aadhaar number, if you have one.

•Certificate of Disability: to provide your disability details and certificate number, in case you are applying under the PH category.

•Contact Details: Address with Pin Code, mobile number and email id.

•Scan of your Photograph:  Take a recent colour passport size photograph with a light/ white background.  Ensure that your complete face and eyes are clearly visible and cover over 80% of the photograph.  Scan this in .jpg format, keeping the size between 4 kB to 20 kB.  The image dimensions should be 100 px width and 120 px height.  Keep 10 copies of this photograph in physical form for submission at various stages of the selection process.

•Scan of your Signature: Sign on a blank white sheet with a black pen.  Then scan the signature and save the image in .jpg format.  The size of this signature image file should be between 1 – 12 kB.  The image dimensions should be 40 px height and 60 px width.  Ensure that you sign yourself, as these signatures are matched with your signature on the exam paper. 

•Exam center preference:  Choose three cities in order of preference from where you would like to take the exam.  A list of exam centers for the SSC CPO 2017 exam is available here.

•Ex-serviceman discharge certificate: In case you are applying under the Ex-Serviceman category and would like to avail quota or age relaxation thereunder, you will require to fill various details like length of service and date of discharge.

•Age relaxation: if you were born before 1st January 1992, and you are in a valid category, then you need to apply for age relaxation.  Please ensure if there is a requirement for the same and note the category under which you can get age relaxation benefit.

•Post preference: You need to provide your preference for the post.  Thus, if you are selected, then the highest ranked post will be provided to you, if the vacancies for the same have not been filled.  In case the vacancies have been filled, then you would be provided a lower ranked post.  The post codes are:      [Go to index]

How to register for the SSC CPO SI recruitment 2017?

There is a common registration process for all SSC exams.  Thus, if you have registered for any SSC exam in the last one year, then you do not need to register again.  And can move to the next step of starting to fill your application form.
Those who will be registering for the first time for an SSC exam, need to follow the below mentioned steps:

•Go to ssc.nic.in, and click on “Apply” and then on “CAPF” to get the link for the registration page.  Click here for the direct link to the registration page.

•Click on the “Register” button on the left hand side of the page, to open a form containing the basic details.

•Fill the form with your name, father’s name, your date of birth, 10th board exam roll number and your gender.  The form asks your to verify each of these.  Please ensure that you fill in the spellings exactly as per the Matriculation Certificate, even if you feel that they are incorrect.  Enter the captcha text shown to you and hit “Enter”.

•Check all details filled in this form, as you can not change them later. Once you are confident, click “OK” on the alert.  You will be taken to the next form, where you need to fill in some more basic details.

•On this form called the Staff Selection Commission – Registration for Examination, you need to provide details for three sections – Personal Details, Basic Details and Contact Information. 

  (i) Personal Details:   The only field left to fill here is the mother’s name.  Ensure that the spelling your provide matches with that in your matriculation certificate.
  (ii) Basic Details:  This includes fields the optional fields of Aadhaar Card and Visible Identification mark.  In case you do not have one, you can leave these fields.  Then there are some complusory fields of Category (SC/ ST/ OBC/ General), If you belong to a religious minority community, nationality, and if you are a person with disability.  In case you are, then you would need to provide additional details on the type and percentage of disability and the Certificate number and date of issue.
  (iii) Contact Details: Here you need to provide your mailing address, including Pin Code.  Also, you are asked to provide your Mobile number and Email Id as a mandatory requirement.
  (iv) Finally, check all the fields and then enter the text and click “Submit”.  Click “OK” to move to the next page to upload the photo and signature.

•Make a note of the Registration number and password provided on the top of the page.  This will be required for you to view/ edit your registration details and also to make the application.  Keep this noted till the final result.

•Upload the scanned copies of your photograph and signature, by first cliking on “Choose File” to browse the image and then “Submit photo” and “Submit signature” buttons to upload them.  In case they are not as per directions, you may need to edit the size of the images or re-scan.  Then click “Next”.  This completes your registration process and you are taken to the login window, to follow the next steps.        [Go to index]

How to make corrections in the SSC CPO online application form?

After filling up your registration form, you can make some corrections to it.  For this, you need to go back to the login page. Go to ssc.nic.in, and click on “Apply” and then on “CAPF” to get the link for the registration page.  Click here for the direct link to the registration page.  Then enter your date of birth, registration number and password in the “View/ Edit Registration” section on the right hand side of your screen.  Enter the text and click “Submit”.  You will be shown your filled form and some of the fields can then be edited if required.  However, you will only be able to view/ edit your registration data twice.

How to make fee payment for the SSC CPO SI recruitment 2017.

The fee payment screen is only available if you are not exempted from paying the fee.  First you can check if you have claimed fee exemption, and second, you need to choose the mode of payment from offline/ online.  Then click Submit.  You may be shown different screens depending upon your selection of online/ offline payment.

•Online payment: Online payment can be made through Net banking/ Credit Card / Debit Card.  You will be taken to the gateway window, where you can choose your mode of payment and the bank.  The gateway will guide you through the rest of the process depending upon your selection.

•Offline payment: If you do not wish to use the Online payment channel, you will be provided with the bank challans on the screen.  Print these challans and submit them at the nearest State Bank of India branch alongwith the fee.  Keep the receipt issued with you.  Then confirm the submission of your fee after 2 days of making the payment.  This can be done through the “Check application Status” link in the center of the login screen.  Your registration number and password will be required.

How to print your application form for the SSC CAPF, CISF, Delhi Police recruitment exam 2017 for SI and ASI ?

Go to ssc.nic.in, and click on “Apply” and then on “CAPF” to get the link for the registration page.  Click here for the direct link to the registration page.  Click the “Print Application Form” link on the right hand side of the screen below the “Apply Part” section.  You will need your registration number and password to access your application form.  Once the application form is displayed, you can either save it as PDF or click on the print icon to print it.  You will need a copy of the application form while sitting an exam.

Candidates are informed not to carry any prohibited items, such as watches, books, pens, paper chits, magazines, electronic gadgets (mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, head phones, pen/buttonhole cameras, scanner, calculator, storage devices etc) in the examination lab.

Pen/pencil and paper for rough work would be provided in the examination lab. Electronic watch (timer) will be available on the computer screen allotted to the candidates.
