SSC CISF SI Exam 2017

SSC (Staff Selection Commission) has brought the notification for (DP) Delhi Police recruitment of SI (Sub Inspector) in Delhi Police and ASI (Assistant Sub Inspector) in CISF for 2017.  Sub Inspectors will also be recruited for CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) through this selection process.  

Note:

  • • CAPF includes: BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP and SSB.  There are no vacancies this year in ITBP.
  • • This exam is commonly referred to as SSC CISF / SSC SI / SSC Delhi Police SI.

There are a total of 2221 vacancies across all positions under this SSC CISF recruitment drive.  Male and female candidates can apply for the same till 5:00 pm on 15th May 2017 from the SSC website and the computer based (online) exams are due to start from 30th June 2017 for Paper I.

SSC CISF, CAPF, Delhi Police Recruitment 2017 (SI, ASI)-Job profile, salary and vacancies

Recruitment for the posts of Sub Inspector and Assistant Sub Inspector in CISF/ Delhi Police/ CAPF are made under this SSC notification.  Both male and female candidates can apply for the same.  There is a probation period of 2 years for each of these posts.  This implies that if you get recruited to any of these posts, you will be on probation / training for the first two years.  Then, you will need to clear respective examinations to be confirmed in the job.  However, if you fail to clear such examination, you may be discharged from your duties.  The salary, job profile and vacancies for each of these posts are provided as below:

Sub-Inspector

Candidates are recruited to the post of Sub-Inspector for Delhi Police and various CAPFs under this SSC recruitment drive.  The profiles of each of these police forces is as below:

Sub – Inspector Salary

The pay scale for SI (Sub Inspector) in any of the Police forces is Rs. 35,400 – Rs. 1,12,400/- per month.  While Sub Inspector posts in the CAPFs are classified in Group B, those for Delhi Police are classfied in Group C.  However, there is not much difference in promotions or salary growths based on the groups.

ASI Salary

The ASI pay scale is Rs. 29,200 – Rs. 92,300 per month.  It is classified as a Group ‘C’ (non-gazetted post).  This implies that the post of ASI does not hold any supervisory role, and works under a supervisor, in this case, the Sub Inspector.

SSC CISF, CAPF, Delhi Police Recruitment 2017 (SI, ASI) – Exam date and other important dates

The online application process to apply for SI or ASI positions in Delhi Police, CISF and CAPF was started on the 22nd April 2017 and the exam date of Paper II (the last test before final results) is 8th October 2017.  There are various dates between this period that are important for you to remember.  Any default on these dates may lead to cancellation or inability to apply or sit for the examination.  These are listed as below:

SSC CISF, CAPF, Delhi Police Recruitment 2017 (SI, ASI)  –  Eligibility Criteria

It is very important to confirm your eligibility to apply for the SSC SI, ASI recruitment for Delhi Police, CISF, CAPF in 2017 before you start preparing or applying for the examination.  You will need to provide documents to prove each of your eligibility requirements either at the time of PET (Physical Endurance Test) or at the time of joining.  So ensure that you meet each of the below mentioned eligibility criteria.  Your eligibility to apply for the SSC recruitment of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police, CAPFs and Assistant Sub Inspectors in CISF examination 2017 depends upon fulfilling the below mentioned criteria:

•Age limit

Of the above, the standards for Nationality and Educational Qualification are common for each of the mentioned posts.  Requirement for Driving License and Presense of Tattoos are different for Delhi Police SI recruitment and the other positions.  Physical Endurance and Medical Fitness tests are different for males and females; however, they are the same standard for all posts.  Age limit varies based on whether the post is in Group B or Group C.

Let us consider each of them in detail.

Nationality Criteria for eligibility for SSC SI, ASI exam 2017

To fulfill the Nationality criteria, you must fall into any one of the below mentioned groups:

•Citizen of India, or

•Subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or

•Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st Jan 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

•a person of Indian origin who migraged from Pakistan/ Burma/ Sri Lanka/ Kenya/ Uganda/ the United Republic of Tanzania/ Zambia/ Malawi/ Zaire/ Ethiopia/ Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

You will need to submit the required document as proof of your Nationality before the offer of appointment.

Educational Qualification required to be eligible for SSC SI, ASI exam 2017

You need to have completed your Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized University.  This includes distance/ regular programs in degree/ diploma / certificate courses.  However, you need to have completed your qualification as on 1st January 2017.  Thus, if you are still pursuing any part of your graduation on 2nd January 2017, you are not eligible to apply for the 2017 recruitment of SI/ ASI in any police force under this exam.

Driving License requirements for Delhi police recruitment under this examination

All male candidates can apply for the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police only if they possess a valid driving license for motor cycle and car as on their date of Physical Endurance Test.  In case, you can not get a driving license by the date of your Physical Endurance Test, you can only apply to the post of SI in CAPFs and ASI in CISF.

 Eligibility criteria for Tattoos for appointment as SI/ ASI in Delhi Police/ CAPF/ CISF 2017

Tattoos are checked for during the Medical Examination.  This examination is held for all candidates who clear the Physical Endurance Test.  You can not apply for the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police if you have any tattoos on any part of your body.  For other positions of SI in CAPFs or ASI in CISF, you have the flexibility of keeping a tattoo.  However, it should be within below defined limits:

•Content: Only religious symbols or figures or names are permitted.

•Location:  Only on the non – saluting limb (left forearm) is permitted.

•Size: Should cover less than one-fourth of the body part.

Required levels of physical endurance and medical fitness for recruitment as SI/ ASI in Delhi Police/ CAPF/ CISF 2017

Physical Endurance and Medical Fitness are tested twice –

•first, for all candidates who clear Paper I and

•second, during the training period after appointment.

On both occassions, every qualified candidate is compulsarily required to undergo the respective tests.  The selection and conformation to the services is dependent upon clearing the same.

PET/ PST and Medical fitness tests after clearing Paper I of the SSC SI/ ASI recruitment process for Delhi Police, CAPFs and CISF 2017

All candidates who clear Paper I need to under go the PET/ Medical examination.  This exam does not bear any marks, and is only of qualifying in nature.  However, only those candidates who qualify this PET/ Medical fitness test are allowed to sit for Paper II.  There are three portions to this test:

•Physical Standard Test (PST)

•Physical Endurance Test (PET), and

•Medical Fitness Test.

Physical Endurance Test (PET) of SSC SI / ASI recruitment for Delhi Police, CISF and CAPFs 2017

The Physical Endurance Test examines your stamina and strength.  Ex-servicemen candidates are exempted from this test.  The events and qualification criteria for the same are as below:

Medical Fitness Standard of SSC SI / ASI recruitment for Delhi Police, CISF and CAPFs 2017

This test is conducted only for candidates who clear the PET.  The medical fitness of candidates at this point is adjudged on the following basis:

•Eye-sight: 6/6 and 6/9, high color vision without wearing of glasses.

•Physical Health: NOT have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squit in the eyes.  You should not have any other physical defect that may hamper in performance of duties.

•Mental health: Have good mental health.

•Pregnancy: Female candidates should not be pregnant at the time of PET.

Candidates declared unfit in the Medical Examination may appeal before Review Medical Board withing 15 days.  However, the decision of the Review Board can not be challenged.

Physical tests during training period

All candidates selected through the SSC SI/ ASI examination for CISF/ CAPF / Delhi Police will be recruited on probation for two years.  During this period they will need to pass seven obstacle events.  Failure to pass these can lead to termination from the service.  These obstacle events are as below:

•Jumping over the Vertical Board,

•Holding the rope on jumping from the Board,

•Tarzan Swing

•Jumping on the Horizontal Board

•Parallel Rope

•Monkey Crawl

•Vertical Rope

Thus, if you feel that you may not be able to complete these obstacles, then you should not be applying for these posts under the SSC recruitment drive.

 

SSC CISF, CAPF, Delhi Police Recruitment 2017 (SI, ASI)- Selection Process

The selection process for SSC CISF, CAPF, Delhi Police Recruitment for SI and ASI is made up of three levels:

Paper 1

•PST/PET/Medical Examination

•Paper 2 

Paper 1 of SSC CISF, CAPF, Delhi Police Recruitment for SI and ASI

Paper 1 of SSC CISF, CAPF, Delhi Police Recruitment for SI and ASI is a computer based (online) examination consisting of four parts or subjects.  This is a mandatory examination that needs to be taken by all candidates.  Its marks are counted in making the final results and rankings.  It holds a high importance as this exam has the highest competition and also, in case of a tie in total marks, the candidate with higher marks in Paper 1 is provided a higher rank.  Only the top candidates are invited for the next round or the PET.  The exam pattern of Paper I of SSC CISF, CAPF, Delhi Police recruitment is as below:

Physical Standards Test, Physical Endurance Test and Medical Examination for SSC CISF, CAPF, Delhi Police recruitment for SI and ASI

This is a qualifying examination of Physical Endurance, and Medical fitness.  It is not provided any marks.  However, candidates who fail this test are disqualified and not invited for the next round of Paper 2.  Thus, this is more of an eligibility criteria, and you should check if you can pass this before applying and studying to clear this SSC SI, ASI exam.

Paper 2 of SSC CISF, CAPF, Delhi Police Recruitment for SI and ASI

Paper 2 of SSC CISF, CAPF, Delhi Police Recruitment for SI and ASI is also a computer based (online) examination.  The exam only tests the knowledge and comprehension in English Language.  Only candidates who clear the PET and Medical fitness are invited to take this examination.  This is the final round of the selection process for the SSC CISF, CAPF, Delhi Police recruitment for SI and ASI.  Its marks are added to the marks of Paper 1.  The final list is made on the basis on descending total marks obtained.  The candidate with the highest total marks is provided the post of first preference.  The exam pattern on Paper 2 is as below:
